Georgia Highlands College is a multi-campus, state college member of the University System of Georgia. Job Summary
The FWS Student Assistant position provides support for various functions within the library, archives, and testing
work environments and offers excellent opportunities for students to grow their skills while furthering their
education.
This position is located on the Cartersville Campus.
Must be a current GHC Student
Responsibilities
  • Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values

  • P rovides customer service to library and archives users in person and by phone

  • Utilizes library management system (LMS) to process borrowing and returning of library materials

  • Provides basic reference duties, such as answering questions on basic searching, technology, college, information, directions, and similar tasks

  • Supports and maintains the professional appearance of the library

  • Maintains physical library and archival materials, such as shelving, shifting books, shelf reading, and inventory

  • Maintains the confidentiality of all patron records for the library, and archives

  • Provides general administrative and clerical tasks including work with scanning and computer equipment.

  • Maintains and collects data on library and archives use as directed

  • Assists with archival processing to include:

  • Accessing and describing archival materials

  • Preserving and conserving archival materials

  • Scanning and digitizing archival materials.

  • Displaying creation and maintenance as well as posting of marketing materials

  • Assists with reference requests, creating displays, and staffing the circulation desk as needed

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and current GHC undergraduate student with:

  • Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) currently being met

  • Current-Year FAFSA on file with all verifications an any other requirements complete

  • Currently enrolled for at least six (6) credit hours (in most instances)

  • Some prior experience is preferred but not required. Job specific training will be provided.

Proposed Salary
$12.00/hr.
