Responsibilities
- Administer infusions including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and monoclonal antibodies per physician orders; monitor patient response and manage infusion-related adverse events
- Establish and maintain IV access and port access; operate and troubleshoot infusion pumps (Alaris) and ensure accurate medication administration
- Monitor patients during infusions, record vitals, assess for side effects, and respond promptly to any complications
- Educate patients and families about infusion therapies, medications, potential side effects, and self-care after treatment
- Document care accurately in the electronic medical record (Epic) and communicate changes to the oncology care team
- Collaborate with physicians, APPs, and other members of the infusion team to coordinate patient care and manage patient flow in an outpatient/clinic infusion setting
Requirements
- Current, unencumbered New York State Registered Nurse license
- 2–3 years of recent infusion experience; outpatient clinic experience highly desired
- ONS chemotherapy/immunotherapy certification
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- Experience with Epic EMR and Alaris infusion pumps
- Strong IV/vascular access and port access skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; excellent communication with patients, families, and the care team
