What You Will Do:
The Help Desk Technician reports to the IT Manager. The Help Desk Technician is responsible to oversee the entire Help Desk function and ensuring that end users are receiving the appropriate support. This includes the responsibility of implementing all procedures related to the identification, prioritization, and resolution of end user help requests, including the monitoring, tracking, and coordination of Help Desk functions. The Help Desk Technician will also contribute to problem resolution by giving in-person, hands-on support to end users at the desktop level.
Qualifications:
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
  • Strong customer service and administrative skills with the ability to provide courteous, effective technical support to users with varying levels of technical proficiency.
  • Working knowledge of IT terminology, desktop hardware, software applications, and Help Desk support practices.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting, installation, configuration, and basic maintenance of hardware and software systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical information to non-technical users.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to document work accurately, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with IT staff, managers, vendors, and agency departments.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Although not required, the following education and training typically demonstrate skills, abilities and knowledge required for this position:
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or related field.

Experience:
In addition to the education requirement the following experience is required:
  • Demonstrated experience providing administrative and customer service support in a technical or office environment.
  • Preferred: One (1) year Help Desk support experience, including troubleshooting, formatting, software and hardware installation, updates, and basic desktop support.
