Job description

**SIGN-ON BONUS**
The successful candidate will receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus ($500 paid at time of hire and $500 paid at the end of 90 days of employment.
Reporting to the Design and Art Director, the Graphic Designer assists in ensuring that all print and digital assets created by the Communications Office are in alignment with the Academy's strategic goals and mission, Identity Guidelines, Style Guide, and other communications products. The Graphic Designer works collaboratively with the Communications Office team and campus departments to produce a variety of materials according to specifications and in support of various internal and external stakeholders' needs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • With the approval of the Design and Art Director, initiate the design and production of a range of materials for print (posters, booklets, event materials, etc.) and digital (images for web, email, etc.);
  • Collaborate and coordinate with stakeholders from design concept through completion of a project;
  • Remix and reformat print designs for use on digital platforms;
  • Print, trim, assemble in-house print jobs;
  • Liaise with outside vendors, including but not limited to creative agencies and printers;
  • Source and manage the procurement of promotional materials such as mugs, stickers, and apparel;
  • Work closely with and support the Design and Art Director to update, maintain and create content as needed, especially related to the production of Deerfield Magazine;
  • Track project status within project management software;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, art, digital media or related field.
  • 1 to 3 years experience in design development and content creation preferred.
  • Proven experience with graphic design, including a portfolio of work.
  • Proficient with design tools, specifically the Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom.
  • Proficiency in content management systems and project management tools preferred.
  • Working knowledge of photography, typography, and industry color standards (Pantone Matching System and RGB/HEX values), color reproduction and cross-platform production (print vs. web and social media).
  • Experience with the printing process including print specifications and final files service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; process oriented with an exceptional eye for detail.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Creative, detail-oriented with a growth mindset
  • Excellent communicator and team player with a proven ability for collaboration.
  • Ability to meet deadlines within a busy and fast-paced office environment.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to meet unexpected variables and accept design feedback and edits with a positive attitude.
  • Willingness to participate in events, including some evenings and weekends, for the purpose of gathering assets for future design projects.
