Material Handler Position Overview
The Material Handler maintains material requirements for all production needs. A Material Handler in a manufacturing setting is responsible for the timely and efficient movement of raw materials, components, and finished products within the production facility. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that the production process runs
Material Handler Essential Functions
  • Reads production schedule and determines material requirements for production.
  • Moves materials and containers from storage or work sites to designated areas to meet requirements of production schedule.
  • Identifies materials and containers with suitable tags or labels.
  • Cleans work areas, machines, and equipment to assist operators.
  • Loads loose materials into hoppers and containers.
  • Mix materials according to product requirements.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned.

Material Handler Required Experience
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Frequently required walking and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance.
  • Able to operate forklift.

Material Handler Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
