Job description

The Architectural Drafter position at Engineered Facades, a division of Shiel Sexton, is an associate-level position on the construction side of our business.  The primary responsibility of the drafter is to support the project managers and quality assurance manager with preparation of drawings and material take-offs of our construction projects. Tasks to fulfill these requirements may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, submit and revise 2D shop drawings including key plan, elevations and details for jobs as well as product application.
  • Prepare material cutting list.
  • Obtain materials sizes and incorporate them into shop drawings to meet plans, specification and manufacturers’ standards.
  • Attend engineering reviews of plans/specs.
  • Work with third party design/engineering professionals to develop complete project details.
  • Continue your education to develop personally and build a knowledge base of the various materials and systems we install.
  • Attend company meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Graduated with a two or four-year degree in Drafting or Construction Management or related field. Has relevant experience working in the construction industry. Other skill sets for this position include:

  • Knowledge of drafting principals
  • Software program knowledge including: Auto-CAD 2012 or higher, and Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks or similar modeling software
  • Manual and computer-assisted technical drawing
  • Skilled in free hand and mechanical drawings
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work in a team environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and e-mail tools
  • Knowledge of rainscreen systems and related façade materials
