Starting in 2017, Care-a-lot expanded from 3 childcare centers to 13, including the acquisition of Generations Childcare. Position Purpose: Performs custodial duties to include overall building and grounds maintenance and repair functions. The cleaner is accountable for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitary conditions and general upkeep of the facilities, both inside and outside.

Reports To: Facilities Manager

Essential Functions:

Follows and completes the center's daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedule. These duties include:

  • Collects and bags all garbage from the center, and disinfects and cleans garbage and trashcans
  • Washes and sanitizes bathrooms fixtures daily with germicidal solution.
  • Wet mops all washable floors daily including kitchen, bathroom, office and classroom.
  • Washes bathroom, kitchen, classroom and other windows (inside and outside) and as scheduled or needed.
  • Vacuuming carpets
  • Sweeps and clears entrance spaces
  • Dusts, washes and sanitizes other surfaces as specified.
  • Performs other cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Refills paper towel, tissue, toilet paper and hand soap in all dispensers.
  • Changes light bulbs, as needed.
  • Reports the following to the Director, or designated staff person: Presence of animals, vermin or insects, need for cleaning supplies or equipment repair in advance, water leaks, and other maintenance needs, all other health and safety hazards noticed.
  • Performs other custodial duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, preferred.

Experience: 1 year of custodial experience. A combination of related training and experience may be substituted.

Physical/Mental Abilities:

  • Must be able to perform the job requirements for up to 170 children and adults in the building.
  • Ability to remain standing and moving for extended periods of time.
  • Indoors and outdoors in normal environment with some exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations and temperature changes.
  • Mobility within the building including movement from floor to floor and outside the building.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs. on a repetitive basis.
  • May handle human body fluids and chemicals as part of the daily operational duties.

  • Ability to pay attention to details and follow instructions.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to integrate into a team to work towards the mission and goals of the company
