Job description

Here is a ZipRecruiter-ready job ad designed to attract career-minded candidates with strong customer service skills—not people simply looking for a temporary job.

Entry-Level Dental Assistant Trainee

Paid On-the-Job Training—No Dental Experience Required

Location: Momentum Dental Care, Woodbridge, VA
Starting Pay: Applicable minimum wage during the 90-day training period
Experience Required: Strong customer service experience; dental experience is not required

Start a Career in Dental Healthcare

Momentum Dental Care is looking for an energetic, compassionate, and career-minded individual to train as a Dental Assistant.

You do not need previous dental experience. We will provide structured, hands-on training while you work alongside our dental team. However, you must have significant customer service experience and be comfortable working directly with patients in a professional, fast-paced environment.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who is interested in healthcare, enjoys helping people, learns quickly, and wants to develop a long-term career—not someone who is simply looking for a short-term job.

What You Will Learn

During the 90-day training period, you will learn how to:

  • Prepare treatment rooms and assist the dentist during patient care
  • Welcome patients and help them feel comfortable
  • Follow infection-control and sterilization procedures
  • Organize dental instruments, materials, and supplies
  • Document information accurately and maintain patient confidentiality
  • Support the clinical team and keep patient visits running smoothly
  • Communicate professionally with patients and team members
  • Follow dental-office systems, protocols, and safety standards

You must successfully complete the required training and demonstrate competency within three months.

The Right Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong customer service experience
  • Is genuinely interested in dentistry, medicine, or healthcare
  • Enjoys helping and caring for people
  • Is friendly, professional, and comfortable speaking with patients
  • Can remain calm and positive in a busy environment
  • Learns quickly and accepts coaching and correction
  • Is organized, dependable, punctual, and attentive to detail
  • Is comfortable working with their hands and being close to patients
  • Understands the importance of cleanliness, safety, and following procedures
  • Wants to build a stable, long-term career in dental healthcare

Experience in hospitality, restaurants, retail, childcare, caregiving, medical offices, customer service, or other patient-facing environments may be especially helpful.

What We Expect

This is a hands-on training opportunity that requires commitment, effort, and accountability. The selected candidate must:

  • Attend work consistently and arrive on time
  • Complete assigned training within 90 days
  • Study and practice skills outside of direct patient-care time when needed
  • Accept feedback and demonstrate continued improvement
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude
  • Follow all office policies, clinical protocols, and confidentiality requirements
  • Work cooperatively as part of a team

Compensation and Training

The position begins at the applicable minimum wage during the three-month training period. Training is paid and completed while working in the office.

Successful completion will be based on attendance, professionalism, patient communication, clinical competency, ability to follow protocols, and overall job performance.

How to Apply

Please submit your résumé along with a brief response to the following questions:

  1. Why are you interested in becoming a dental assistant?
  2. Describe your previous customer service experience.
  3. What interests you about working in healthcare and helping patients?
  4. Are you prepared to complete an intensive three-month, on-the-job training program?
  5. What are you hoping to accomplish professionally over the next two to three years?

Please do not apply if you are looking only for temporary employment or are not prepared to commit to completing the full training program.

Momentum Dental Care is an equal opportunity employer.

A stronger ZipRecruiter title would be “Dental Assistant Trainee—Paid Training, No Experience Required” because it includes the phrases entry-level applicants are most likely to search.
