At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.
Job Description:
Job Overview
The Manufacturing Quality Technician supports manufacturing and customer quality by controlling nonconforming material, performing incoming and laboratory inspections, maintaining calibration and inspection-control systems, supporting supplier quality activities, and providing timely escalation of quality risks. The role works closely with Production, Quality Engineering, Process Engineering, suppliers, and Quality Management to ensure products and processes meet applicable requirements.
Responsibilities:
  • Review material in hold areas and verify that product is properly identified and controlled in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Review nonconforming material reports (NMRs), verify inspection results, initiate new NMRs when required, and complete disposition records in the NMR database.
  • Collaborate at the point of occurrence with Production and Quality Engineering to establish containment, investigate root cause, and support 8D activity through root-cause verification.
  • Coordinate proposed material dispositions with Quality Engineering, Process Engineering, or management when prior approval is appropriate.
  • Identify trends and potential problem areas, communicate needed corrective actions, and provide information for Quality Operating System reporting.
  • Collect representative samples for visual aids, training, and production-floor workmanship standards.
  • Monitor incoming inspection requirements in SAP for Plant 1081 and perform required inspection and testing in accordance with applicable procedures and specifications.
  • Record incoming inspection results in the designated tracking system and communicate acceptance to the appropriate distribution center contact.
  • Immediately escalate failed inspections to the responsible Quality Engineer and Quality Manager; create the required SAP quality notification and support supplier rejection processing.
  • Notify suppliers of failed incoming material or component results, open and maintain supplier complaint records, and follow up on return material authorizations or credit notes as applicable.
  • Drive timely closure of supplier complaints and trigger escalation to the Supplier Quality Engineering organization when suppliers are non-responsive.
  • Coordinate with calibration service providers to maintain the monthly calibration schedule and verify completion by required dates.
  • Review out-of-tolerance calibration conditions, notify Quality Engineering or Quality Management, support deviation activity, and arrange replacement or removal from service when required.
  • Complete the monthly calibration scorecard and calibration audit.
  • Monitor open gage-order requests and follow up to support timely delivery and closure.
  • Perform rotating x-ray verification testing on operating desktop x-ray machines, document results, and immediately remove failed units from service and escalate the failure.
  • Issue, replace, track, and audit inspection identifier stamps in the designated control log.
  • Perform required in-process, finished-product, quality-lab, and RBY lab testing as assigned, using the sample size and acceptance criteria specified by the applicable requirement.
  • Complete scheduled RBY tape audits, document results, and escalate failures to Quality Engineering or Quality Management.
  • Support internal, external, product, process, safety, and compliance audits as assigned.
  • Provide sample testing and other technical support for Quality Engineering projects.
  • Review the applicable Job Safety Analysis before collecting samples or performing testing work.
  • Scan and retain raw material certificates in the designated system.

What your background should look like
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Six months to one year of related quality inspection, laboratory, manufacturing, or technical experience and/or training required.
