Position: Special Inspector – AWS CWI / ICC Welding - NY

Reports to: Project Manager


Technical Responsibilities:

- Inspect weldments to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications

- Review welding procedure specifications (WPS), welder qualification records, and inspection reports prior to the start of welding activities

- Verify compliance with contract documents, submittals, and construction drawings

- Oversee non-destructive testing (NDT) and ensure proper materials and procedures are in place

- Identify and report non-conformance issues (NCRs) to contractors and clients in a timely manner

- Prepare and submit detailed daily inspection reports

- Maintain accurate documentation of all inspection activities and findings

- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure quality and compliance

Requirements:

Professional Experience & Education\Certifications:

- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) OR ICC Structural Steel & Welding Special Inspector Certification

- Entry-Level (3-5 years) or Mid-Level (6-9 years) with welding inspection experience

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred)

- Strong knowledge of welding codes, standards, and inspection procedures

- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills


Physical & Additional Requirement:

- This position requires physical ability to perform field inspections

- Ability to work in diverse weather conditions

- Extended periods of standing and walking, possibly on uneven or challenging terrains

- Climbing, bending, kneeling

- Working long hours & Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

- Valid, clean driver’s license & must have a personal vehicle and be willing to travel daily to project sites across the NYC metro area

- Ability to transport inspection and testing equipment as needed
