These companies typically manufacture fertilizers, industrial gases, and chemicals that are essential for agriculture, manufacturing, and various industrial processes. Nitrogen companies play a crucial role in supporting food production and several other industries by providing products that enhance crop yields and support industrial operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a nitrogen plant operator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Nitrogen Plant Operator, you need a solid background in chemical or mechanical engineering, process operations, and safety protocols, often supported by relevant technical certifications or vocational training. Familiarity with process control systems, SCADA, and equipment like compressors and distillation columns is commonly required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and strong teamwork are vital soft skills in this role. Force & Motion Group (FMG)is seeking an experienced Sales Manager – Nitrogen Gas Products, Special Applications to drive growth of our HYSON and KALLER nitrogen gas spring technologies within new and emerging industrial applications.

This highly technical sales role will focus on developing business within automation, aerospace, robotics, industrial equipment, and other engineered end markets where nitrogen gas spring technology can provide innovative solutions for counterbalance, force control, load management, positioning, and controlled motion.

The successful candidate will combine a strong engineering and technical background with proven sales and business development experience. This individual will work directly with customer engineering, design, and technical teams to identify new applications, develop solutions, and move opportunities from initial concept through technical validation and commercialization.

We are looking for a self-motivated, technically curious individual who can recognize opportunities beyond traditional nitrogen gas spring applications and establish HYSON and KALLER technologies as solutions for challenging industrial problems. Established relationships and contacts within automation, aerospace, industrial equipment, or related engineering-driven markets are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a growth strategy for HYSON and KALLER nitrogen gas springs within special and non-traditional applications.
  • Identify and develop new customers and applications within automation, aerospace, robotics, industrial machinery, material handling, and other industrial end markets.
  • Identify applications where nitrogen gas spring technology can be utilized for counterbalance, force control, load management, positioning, controlled motion, energy storage, or other engineered functions.
  • Work directly with customer engineering and design teams to understand technical challenges and develop solutions utilizing FMG products and engineering capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities where HYSON and KALLER solutions can replace or improve upon traditional mechanical springs, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, counterweights, or other force-management technologies.
  • Lead opportunities from application discovery and concept development through technical evaluation, prototype/testing, commercial negotiation, and production launch.
  • Build relationships with key decision makers, including design engineers, application engineers, engineering managers, R&D teams, procurement, and operations leadership.
  • Develop a strong pipeline of new customers, applications, and design-in opportunities.
  • Utilize existing industry relationships while actively developing new contacts within targeted end markets.
  • Collaborate closely with FMG engineering, product management, operations, and commercial teams to develop technical and commercially viable customer solutions.
  • Provide market intelligence regarding emerging applications, customer requirements, competitive technologies, and opportunities for product development.
  • Represent HYSON and KALLER at customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and technical forums.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity, pipeline, and customer activity information within the company's CRM system.
  • Achieve defined sales, opportunity development, new customer, and growth objectives.
  • Adherence to Code of Conduct.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of technical sales, application engineering, business development, or related experience within engineered industrial products.
  • Demonstrated success developing new customers, markets, or technical applications, rather than solely managing an established customer base.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand force, pressure, motion, load, mechanical systems, and engineered product applications.
  • Experience working directly with customer engineering, design, R&D, and technical teams.
  • Experience within one or more targeted markets such as industrial automation, aerospace, robotics, industrial machinery, material handling, manufacturing equipment, or other highly engineered industrial applications.
  • Established customer and engineering contacts within targeted end markets strongly preferred.
  • Experience with nitrogen gas springs, gas springs, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, motion control, industrial springs, force-management products, or related technologies is highly desirable.
  • Ability to translate a customer's technical challenge into a potential product or system solution.
  • Strong consultative and solution-selling skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and commercial audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage longer-cycle technical sales opportunities from initial concept through commercialization.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively across a global and matrixed organization.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while collaborating closely with engineering and commercial teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to customer locations, industry events, and FMG facilities as required.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related field.
  • MBA Preferred
