Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a collaborative and technically strong engineering leader who can lead, coach, and develop a team while driving the delivery of scalable, high-quality software solutions.
You bring deep software engineering experience, sound technical judgment, and a passion for developing people. You can translate strategy into execution, guide teams through ambiguity, and balance business priorities with technical excellence.
The ideal candidate has experience building and operating enterprise-scale applications, modern cloud-native platforms, and API-first architectures. You foster an inclusive, high-performing culture and help engineers grow while delivering meaningful business outcomes.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including experience leading technical initiatives or engineering teams.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing engineers.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering practices across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with modern architectural patterns including APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, and domain-driven design.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and operational support.
  • Ability to partner effectively with product managers, architects, and business stakeholders to align engineering investments with business outcomes.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience driving process improvements, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decisions, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, Step Functions, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, and S3.
  • Experience with TypeScript, Python, Node.js, React, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with front-end frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Experience implementing AI/ML-enabled solutions and data-driven applications.
  • Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, data movement, orchestration, workflow, and content management platforms.
  • Experience contributing to architecture reviews, technical forums, tech talks, or engineering communities of practice.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise security, privacy, and secure software engineering practices.

What You'll Work On
As a Software Engineering Manager within Consumer Product & Innovation, you will lead a team responsible for building, enhancing, and operating digital capabilities that support Nike's product creation, merchandising and consumer innovation ecosystem.
You will:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Translate business objectives and product strategy into actionable engineering plans and priorities.
  • Drive the delivery of scalable, reliable, and maintainable software solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership on architecture, engineering practices, delivery tradeoffs, and operational excellence.
  • Partner closely with product managers, architects, engineering leaders, and business stakeholders to deliver customer-focused outcomes.
  • Advance engineering excellence through modern software practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, observability, security, and operational readiness.
  • Support the design and delivery of modular, configurable, API-first capabilities consumed by modern digital products and platforms.
  • Improve engineering processes, team effectiveness, quality, reliability, and speed of delivery.
  • Lead incident reviews and root cause analyses, ensuring learnings are incorporated into standards and operating procedures.
  • Contribute to resource planning, hiring, talent development, and organizational growth.
  • Promote technical knowledge sharing through design reviews, technical forums, communities of practice, and engineering events.

Who You'll Work With
You will lead a team of software engineers within Nike's Consumer Product & Innovation technology organization and report to the Engineering Director.
You will work closely with Product Managers, Principal Engineers, Architects, Data Scientists, Operations teams, and business stakeholders to deliver technology solutions that support Nike's product creation ecosystem. You will also collaborate across engineering teams to align on architecture, platform strategy, and organizational priorities.
