ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department.
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform basic and translational research in the area of neuroscience and neurodegenerative diseases. Apply for external grants. Publish in peer-review journals and present research at appropriate external scientific conferences.
Participate in teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Provide Departmental or college-wide seminars.
Serve in governance, service, and community outreach tasks.
Other duties as assigned by the Chair
Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Professor. Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
PREFERRED:
We are seeking candidates for a tenured position, who work on the molecular basis of neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, ALS-FTD, Ataxia, Huntington's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, stroke/vascular dementia, and other neurological and psychiatric disorders. A successful candidate for this position is expected to have already established, a nationally recognized, competitively funded research program and participate in graduate/medical student education and mentoring.
