Who We Are

Compassion and excellence come from every department at Hopedale Medical Complex. We believe exceptional healthcare is built on strong relationships between patients and the highly trained physicians and staff who care for them.

As a community-focused hospital, HMC provides advanced healthcare in a supportive rural setting where personalized care is the standard—not the exception. Our low nurse-to-patient ratios allow our nursing staff to build meaningful relationships with patients while delivering high-quality, individualized care.

About the Job

Hopedale Medical Complex is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Hospital team on the night shift.

The Hospital RN provides planned, skilled nursing care to a variety of patients, including medical-surgical and higher-acuity patients. Working collaboratively with physicians and other members of the healthcare team, the RN assesses patient needs, develops and implements individualized care, administers medications and treatments, monitors patient conditions, and communicates changes in patient status.

HMC is a Critical Access Hospital with a 25-bed hospital, ICU, and a 5-bed Emergency Department. While HMC is not a trauma center, our nurses care for a diverse range of patients and have the opportunity to develop a broad range of clinical skills. Our active Surgery Department also contributes to a variety of medical-surgical patient care needs.

This position works 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. and includes rotating weekends and holidays.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality nursing care to assigned patients.
  • Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and changes in status.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
  • Carry out physician orders and nursing interventions accurately and timely.
  • Administer medications, intravenous therapies, drips, and other treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitor patient responses to treatments and promptly communicate significant findings or changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare provider.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the patient's medical record.
  • Assist with patient positioning, mobility, transfers, and transportation while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
  • Prepare and educate patients and families for admissions, transfers, discharges, and ongoing care as appropriate.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations and changes in patient condition.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of equipment, instruments, supplies, and procedures relevant to the assigned patient population.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, infection prevention practices, HIPAA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in required education, competency assessments, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Current and unrestricted Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency and high-pressure situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • ER and/or ICU experience preferred, but not required.
  • Must be available to work the night shift from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., including rotating weekends and holidays.
Pre-Employment Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing all required pre-employment screening, including:

  • Federal and State criminal background checks
  • Drug and alcohol screening

Hopedale Medical Complex tests for both illegal and legal substances, including cannabis (THC).
