Job description

Port City Air (PCA) is located on Pease in Portsmouth, NH. We are a full service 24/7 fixed base operator (FBO) and multi-faceted aviation services company, offering a variety of services for many different size aircrafts such as maintenance, fueling, cleaning and more!

POSITION SCOPE

The Ramp Agent/Baggage Handler will load and unload baggage to the aircraft while also providing customer service and ramp support for customers flying in and out of Portsmouth International Airport.

We are looking for someone with a flexible schedule since shifts are determined by the timing of flights. This role is staffed 7 days a week including nights, weekends, in all types of weather and occasionally on holidays. A typical shift will be roughly 2 to 3 hours but can be extended due to flight schedules.

  • Load and unload baggage and co-mail of varying weight and dimension to and from aircraft, and applicable airport baggage areas.
  • Marshall/pushback the aircraft.
  • Operate heavy, motorized machinery/equipment including, but not limited to tugs, tractors, belt loaders, bag carts, pushback tractors, deicers, etc.
  • Ensure FAA, Allegiant Air and airport regulations are followed.
  • Enforce safety/security measures and monitor safety sensitive zones.
  • Conduct Aircraft Security Searches and Commissary Security Searches as required.
  • Assist customers with special needs, i.e., customers who need assistance in boarding via wheelchairs.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Abilities

  • Previous aviation experience helpful but not necessary.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure and communicate verbally with respect.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Patience and excellent listening skills a must.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Valid Driver's License with clean record.
  • Must pass the FAA and Homeland Security background checks as well as complete a pre-employment drug screening.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically capable of the following:

  • Safely working with and around various types of equipment while outside in all types of weather, day or night.
  • Capable of standing and/or walking for 65-100% of the shift.
  • Pulling, pushing, and/or lifting 70 lbs. on a continuous basis.
  • Perform repetitive tasks and motions, including bending at the waist and knees, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting and sustaining those positions for extended amounts of time.

Benefits (for PT employees)

  • Up to 56 hours of sick time. One (1) hour of sick time to be accrued every thirty (30) hours worked.
