Job description

Role : Data Center Engineer
Location : CaIrvine, CA (Hybrid)
Job type : Full-Time
In order to ensure high availability and flexibility of both existing and future critical physical infrastructure, we are now seeking an experienced data center engineer (Mechanical or Electrical). Ideal candidates will have 8+ years of experience with critical facilities design and operations, ideally in data centers.
This position offers a fantastic combination of broad, hands-on operations and design responsibilities, a fast pace, great independence and the support needed to succeed, plus an extremely supportive company culture.


Skills and experiences include the following:

  • Ability to lead or participate in the design of datacenter modifications, including design of new cooling systems, electrical distribution systems, and BMS changes.
  • Power, cooling, and space capacity planning for whitespace buildouts.
  • Project management and vendor management experience.
  • Ability to perform and deeply understand all common cooling calculations and basic power calculations on single and 3-phase circuits.
  • Ability to extract data and trends from BMS systems, with an understanding of how to use this data for diagnosis and troubleshooting.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret and work with engineering documents such as Single-Line Electrical Drawings, network architecture drawings, P&IDs, SOPs, Sequence of Operations, maintenance manuals, or other operational documentation as it pertains to datacenter infrastructure.
  • Hands-on ability to operate the infrastructure of a modern data center, including cooling, power, security systems, maintenance operations, and building management systems.
  • Maintenance planning and coordination, including administration of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Development of Energy Control Procedures (ECP), performing Lockout Tagout (LOTO), and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Working knowledge of MEP standards and operations, safe work practices, Arc flash hazards (NFPA 70e), Lock-out Tag-out, and OSHA standards.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills.
  • Accommodate responsibilities as a site responder for critical after hours issues.

  • Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS)
  • Diesel Engine Emergency Power Plants
  • Direct Expansion and Centrifugal Refrigeration Systems
  • Evaporative Cooling Towers, Pumps, and Water Distribution Systems
  • Air Handling Units
  • Distributed Control Systems or BMS (especially ALC) and associated communication protocols.
  • Hydronic systems, Valves and Flow Control Devices and Sensors
  • Motor Controls and Variable Frequency Drives
  • Chemical Water Treatment
  • Fire Detection and Protection Systems
