Medical Technologist – Core Laboratory (Night Shift)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Medical Technologist to join a high-volume Core Laboratory in Cary, NC. This role supports essential diagnostic testing during overnight hours and plays a critical role in delivering accurate, timely results that directly impact patient care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, confident working independently, and thrives in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Location: Cary, NC
Shift Options:

  • 4 x 10-hour shifts: 9:00 PM – 7:00 AM

  • 3 x 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

  • Compensation: $28 – $37 per hour (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform moderate and high-complexity testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Urinalysis

  • Accurately analyze, verify, and report patient results in accordance with established protocols

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation

  • Perform and document quality control, calibration, and proficiency testing

  • Adhere to all CLIA, CAP, and laboratory regulatory requirements

  • Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and workflow prioritization

  • Collaborate with laboratory leadership and healthcare teams to support efficient operations

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

  • Assist with training and mentoring of laboratory staff as needed

Qualifications:
  • ASCP or equivalent Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist certification required

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field

  • Prior Core Lab experience preferred (Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation)

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently during overnight shifts

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and patient safety
