Job description

Job Title: Night Shift Production Supervisor

Reports To: Production Manager
FLSA Status: Salaried
Location: Waxahachie, Texas
Shift: 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM, Monday–Thursday (Fridays as needed)
Position Summary / Scope of Role
The Night Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all production operations during the night shift, ensuring a safe work environment while maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, and employee engagement. This role serves as the primary on-site decision-maker from shift start to shift end and acts as the key communication link between hourly production associates and plant leadership.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead, supervise, and support a team of hourly production associates by providing clear direction, coaching, and real-time problem-solving throughout the shift.
  • Monitor production output against established targets; identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to meet daily schedules and throughput goals.
  • Ensure all product quality standards are met by overseeing in-process inspections and partnering with Quality personnel to address defects and nonconformances.
  • Manage shift staffing needs, including attendance tracking, workstation assignments, cross-training, and break coverage.
  • Coordinate promptly with Maintenance on equipment issues; escalate unplanned downtime and ensure accurate completion of downtime documentation.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive shift handover reports, covering production totals, quality issues, safety incidents, attendance concerns, and equipment status.
  • Enforce company policies consistently, including the administration of progressive discipline; partner with Human Resources as required.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and maintain positive employee relations.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and GMP or other quality systems.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including email, ERP/MES systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability and willingness to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
