The Role
The 3D Print Technician will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of 3D printing systems as well as the post-production of printed parts. Working independently, you will set up, operate, and troubleshoot advanced 3D printing operations, ensuring consistent performance and quality during off-hour production. This position requires a blend of technical know-how, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality end products.
Key Responsibilities
  • Printer Setup & Operation: Set up and operate 3D printers, ensuring correct calibration and settings for optimal print quality during the night shift with minimal supervision.
  • Quality Control: Inspect printed components for defects and accuracy, making necessary adjustments to printer settings.
  • Material Management: Select, load, and manage printing materials, ensuring they meet specifications and are properly stored.
  • Maintenance: Perform regular checks and routine maintenance on 3D printers to ensure their longevity and reliability.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve printing issues independently, communicating with shop leadership when production is impacted.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop floor during overnight operations.
  • Communication: Provide feedback to the day team to support continuous improvement and process development.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of print jobs, including settings, materials used, and any issues encountered.
  • Post-Processing: Clean and finish printed parts by trimming, sanding, or applying other finishing techniques.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 year experience in 3D printing or a related field.
  • Independence: Proven ability to work independently or on off-shifts in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in CAD software and slicing tools.
    • Experience with hand fabrication and finishing.
    • Ability to interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work hands-on in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of polymer and composite material properties, including specialty resins and engineering-grade filaments
  • Previous experience working in a regulated or ISO-certified lab/manufacturing setting
