Position Overview

We are seeking a mechanically inclined, safety-focused individual to join our team as Paintball Technician for our fall haunted attractions season. Each year during September and October, our cider mill transforms into a hub of thrilling, spine-chilling entertainment, hosting a variety of haunted experiences for guests of all ages. As Paintball Technician, you will keep our Zombie Paintball attraction running smoothly - maintaining paintball markers, air systems, and protective equipment so that every guest and performer stays safe.

This is a temporary, seasonal position ideal for someone with mechanical aptitude and a strong safety mindset who enjoys hands-on, behind-the-scenes work supporting a high-energy attraction.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Inspect, clean, and maintain paintball markers, air/CO2 systems, and related equipment before and throughout each operating night
  • Fill and exchange air or CO2 tanks and verify proper pressure levels
  • Chronograph paintball markers regularly to confirm velocities stay within approved safety limits
  • Test-fire and calibrate markers to ensure safe, consistent performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions quickly during live operations
  • Inspect and maintain protective equipment, including face masks and body armor, for wear or damage
  • Track inventory of paintballs, air/CO2 tanks, spare parts, and safety gear
  • Coordinate with Zombie Actors, Zombie Narrators, and Tractor Drivers before each shift to confirm all equipment is ready
  • Maintain accurate equipment and maintenance logs, reporting significant issues to a supervisor
  • Attend mandatory pre-season orientation, safety training, and equipment training
  • Follow all safety protocols for handling paintball markers and compressed air/CO2 systems

Education, Skills & Knowledge

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Prior experience with paintball equipment, mechanical repair, or similar technical work strongly preferred
  • Comfortable and safe working with compressed air or CO2 systems
  • Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting skills
  • Strong attention to detail and safety
  • Ability to commit to the full September-October season, including all Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, plus pre-season setup and training days
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional - attendance is critical to our team's success
  • Physically able to lift, carry, kneel, and crouch while inspecting or repairing equipment

Working Conditions

  • Outdoor work in varying fall weather conditions
  • Work performed near active paintball fire and attraction activity
  • Exposure to compressed air/CO2 equipment and related noise
  • Physically able to lift and carry equipment and perform repairs for multiple hours per shift

Availability Requirements

Candidates must be available to work every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening throughout the entire September and October season. Shifts will run from early evening through late-night hours. Specific shift times will be communicated prior to the season start. Attendance at mandatory pre-season training (typically held in late August or early September) is also required.
