Job description

Superintendent โ€“ Oversee Field Operations for Commercial and Residential Builds

Company: Nicon Build

Location: New York, NY

Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $115,000โ€“$135,000 per year, with annual bonus potential

Project Scope: High-end commercial, residential, hospitality, retail, and office construction projects

Work Setting: Onsite / field-based

The Opportunity

Nicon Build is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee day-to-day field operations for high-end commercial and residential construction projects throughout New York City.

This role is ideal for a hands-on field leader who can manage subcontractors, maintain schedules, enforce safety standards, coordinate site logistics, and keep projects moving with strong communication and accountability. You will work closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and internal leadership to ensure each project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to Nicon Buildโ€™s quality standards.

The right candidate will be organized, technically capable, comfortable using construction software, and experienced working on detail-driven projects in fast-paced NYC jobsite environments.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Oversee daily field operations from project start through punch list and closeout.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, field crews, vendors, inspections, deliveries, and site logistics.
  • Maintain project schedules and provide regular progress updates to the Project Manager.
  • Create and manage daily logs, progress photos, two-week lookaheads, meeting notes, and field updates in Procore.
  • Use Procore and Bluebeam to support documentation, communication, RFIs, submittals, field issues, and project coordination.
  • Enforce jobsite safety standards and help ensure work aligns with OSHA, DOB, site, and company requirements.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, manpower, sequencing, and quality of work.
  • Identify field issues early and communicate delays, conflicts, RFIs, and change impacts to the Project Manager.
  • Lead subcontractor meetings and maintain clear weekly agendas and lookaheads.
  • Support punch list execution and final turnover to ensure a clean project closeout.
  • Represent Nicon Build professionally with clients, building teams, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong field experience managing commercial and/or high-end residential construction projects.
  • Experience starting, running, and closing out construction jobs.
  • Strong understanding of NYC jobsite logistics, inspections, safety, deliveries, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Proficiency with Procore and Bluebeam.
  • Ability to sequence trades, manage subcontractors, and keep field work aligned with project schedules.
  • Strong communication skills with Project Managers, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and building representatives.
  • Ability to maintain organized jobsite documentation and daily updates.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to keep projects moving under tight timelines.
  • OSHA / DOB / SST credentials, or ability to maintain required NYC construction credentials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction superintendent or field supervision experience.
  • Experience with NYC commercial interiors, hospitality, restaurant, retail, office, or high-end residential projects.
  • Familiarity with union jobsite environments is helpful but not required.
  • Experience managing projects in occupied buildings, high-end environments, or logistically complex NYC sites.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent field experience will be considered.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $115,000โ€“$135,000 annual salary, based on experience.
  • Annual bonus potential based on individual and company performance.
  • Weekly pay cycle.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid holidays, vacation, and sick time.
  • Referral bonus program.
  • Training and certification support, including safety and technical training.
  • Company events and team outings.
  • Growth opportunity within a fast-moving construction company.
