Job description

SCOPE OF WORK: To perform duties relevant to the enrollment processes and acceptance of prospective students and to the facilitation of the admissions process resulting in the achievement of the College’s enrollment projections and admissions goals. This position shall report to the Director of Admissions at NHTI, Concord’s Community College.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Participates in various recruiting activities and College-sponsored events to attract students, educate the public, and support the College’s enrollment and admissions goals; informs current and potential students, families and the community about student services and application process through open houses, express admissions events, information sessions, student orientation, etc.;
  • Generates new markets and interest from diverse populations, to include targeted markets like non-traditional, first-generation college, and potential students from under-represented groups; develops relationships with school guidance counselors, facilitates open house programs, and speaks at schools, community organizations, college fairs and job fairs;
  • Provides office coverage and responds to inquiries from potential applicants, current applicants and public inquiries, in person, via phone, or by electronic means;
  • Manages NHTI Admissions social media presence on platforms to include Facebook, X, and Instagram in conjunction with the Marketing Office. Uses social media posting to publicize Admissions events and recruit prospective students as part of NHTI’s overall social media strategy.
  • Conducts informational interviews with prospective students; manages the department’s tour program by recruiting and training Student Ambassadors, developing and refining Student Ambassador training materials, working with staff, faculty, and interested parties to coordinate and execute general and customized campus tours for prospective students;
  • Maintains current knowledge of student and academic programs, guidelines, policies, and procedures;
  • Develops and maintains information files on prospective and current students and admissions data; tracks and follows up on these as necessary;
  • Performs various administrative tasks such as: generating letters, maintaining student files, recruitment logs, travel schedules, admissions data reports, prospect lists, and student contact summaries; review admission applications and recommend appropriate action;
  • Utilizes various software and databases including but not limited to Banner, MS Office, Target X, and other private software; processes student applications and changes of program through all phases of the admissions lifecycle;
  • Assists in the development of admissions policies, procedures, and forms to improve students service and office efficiency;
  • Works collaboratively with other offices integral to the admissions office, including academic affairs, advising, the bursar, financial aid, and the registrar;
  • Serves on college committees as required;
  • Complies with all System, College, State and Federal rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate's degree from a recognized college or technical institute with major study in business administration, management, education, student services, or related field. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: 1 year of related experience in clerical or technical support position in sales, customer service, student services, admissions, or a related field, with responsibility for providing program information to the public (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

License/Certification: Valid driver’s license and/or access to transportation to perform statewide and out-of-state travel as necessary.

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of the organization and operations of the college or departments in which position is assigned. Knowledge of office record keeping and reporting as related to all aspects of enrollment management. Knowledge of the regulations pertaining to departmental programs. Knowledge of the principles and practices of working with Student Information Systems, data management, and related enrollment management tools. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. Ability to gather, assemble, correlate and analyze facts and identify existing or potential problems. Ability to contribute to the development of sound operational procedures. Ability to make sound judgment in appraising situations and making routine decisions. Ability to follow specific instructions in gathering facts, data or resources in organizing required information. Ability to meet with prospective students, education institutions, and community organizations to explain programs sponsored by the college or department in which the position is located. Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
