Position Summary
The Event Security position has a commitment to excellence in guest service while providing necessary safety and security support to guests visiting the PPG Paints Arena.
Will be required to join the union, upon invitation, following a 90-day probationary period.
This role will pay an hourly rate of $18.69 (per CBA).
Benefits as per the union agreement.
This position will remain open until October 16, 2026.
About the Venue
As a leading entertainment venue, PPG Paints Arena is the regional epicenter for athletic events, concerts, and family shows in Western Pennsylvania and home to the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver superior guest service while ensuring proper building and governmental protocols are being followed.
  • Respond to requests for assistance from staff and visitors for a variety of security issues (fire, medical emergencies, etc.)
  • Ensure all safety and building guidelines are being followed, and proper security checks are conducted during guest entry.
  • Assist in the control and safety of all guests that visit the facility.
  • Ensure crowd control stays at a reasonable level and assist in emergency situations and conflicts as needed.
  • Interact with the public and all levels of management and fellow employees.
  • Enforce rules and regulations of the facility.
  • Provide directional assistance, as needed, by being knowledgeable about locations throughout the facility.
  • Provide professionalism, courtesy, and respect to all guests and fellow employees.

Qualifications
  • Prior experience in building security preferred.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills required
  • Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, including management.
  • Able to stand, walk, climb, stoop, for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift heavy objects when needed
  • Able to work in indoor and outdoor settings and may be subjected to adverse conditions, including contact from hostile people
  • Able to work in an environment that will have high noise levels during events.
