About the role
15 Lightyears is seeking a detail-oriented and sustainability-focused Green Building Project Coordinator to join our growing team in Central Florida. This role is responsible for coordinating and managing residential green building certification projects from start to finish, including programs such as Florida Green Building Certification (FGBC), ENERGY STAR for New Homes, Florida Water Star, NGBS, and LEED Residential programs.
The Green Building Project Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for builders, project managers, and clients throughout the certification process. This position is responsible for organizing documentation, ensuring compliance with program requirements, coordinating inspections and submissions, and supporting successful certification outcomes for our clients.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about sustainability, residential construction, energy efficiency, and green building practices who enjoys managing projects and working collaboratively with clients and internal teams.
What you'll do
  • Manage residential green building certification projects from project kickoff through final certification approval.
  • Coordinate and process certification programs including:
    • Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC)
    • ENERGY STAR for New Homes
    • Florida Water Star
    • NGBS
    • LEED Residential Programs
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project documentation for compliance with green building program requirements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between builders, clients, project managers, field staff, and certification agencies.
  • Collect, organize, review, and submit certification documentation, including photos, product specifications, testing reports, and compliance forms.
  • Track project milestones, certification deadlines, inspections, and outstanding documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate with field inspectors, energy raters, superintendents, and third-party reviewers to support project completion.
  • Conduct job site visits as needed to gather project information, verify compliance measures, and document construction progress.
  • Maintain organized project records using Google Drive, spreadsheets, CRMs, and internal tracking systems.
  • Input and organize project information into EnergyGauge and other industry software platforms.
  • Assist builders and clients in understanding green building standards, certification pathways, and sustainability best practices.
  • Support the continued growth and development of the company's green building certification programs.
  • Collaborate with the Solar PV and Energy Testing departments on project support and data collection as needed.

Qualifications
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Business Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in residential construction, green building, energy efficiency, sustainability programs, or project coordination preferred.
  • Experience working with green building certification programs such as FGBC, LEED, NGBS, ENERGY STAR, or Florida Water Star preferred.
