JOB DESCRIPTION:MECHANIC Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: Safely and efficiently provides maintenance, diagnostics, repair and inspection of Libs Paving Machinery and truck fleets to insure the best possible performance of mechanical and diesel-powered equipment for going on the road or to a job site. Works with customers on purchasing correct tools and supplies to support the maintenance operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (will include but not limited to):

  • Performs and analyzes vehicle diagnostic tests.
  • Works with Fleetio software to complete electronic documentation, including pre and post trip inspections, vehicle repairs, and any other maintenance records required.
  • Maintains NexTraq vehicle maintenance program.
  • Inspects, repairs, and maintains all vehicles in the Libs Paving and PTI Fleets.
  • Repairs engine failures, electrical and mechanical system malfunctions, and body repair and replacement parts and components.
  • Inspects, repairs, and maintains all equipment used in the daily operation of Libs Paving including Pavers, rollers, whackers, skid steers, backhoes, track hoes, backpack blowers and weed eaters.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting problems.
  • Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance program for Libs Paving and PTI vehicles and equipment.
  • Performs yearly vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT standards.
  • Keeps the shop area clean and free of clutter.
  • Makes service calls when trucks are broke down away from the shop area.
  • Effectively communicates with all drivers and team members to maintain a positive work balance for maintenance of fleet.
  • Take necessary precautions to ensure jobs are being done in the safest manner possible. Is mindful of their personal safety as well as safety of team members and customers.
  • Participates in weekly safety meetings (Toolbox Talks).
  • Follows direction from Libs Paving Management team.
  • Maintains a high level of discipline and professionalism as a representative of Libs Paving.
  • Maintains company work truck following proper daily checklist and inspection procedures and keeps truck interior clean of debris.
  • Adheres to all safety rules established in the Libs Paving Safety Program.

  • QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must have previous experience with diesel mechanics and an Indepth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms.
  • Must have superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment.
  • Must be comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools.
  • Must have a valid CDL Class A driver’s license and maintain in good standing.
  • Must hold a valid DOT Medical Card.
  • Must pass drug test and keep COATS card valid.
  • Must be dependable with good to excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Must have excellent problemsolving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Must be able to withstand various climate conditions including extreme heat and humidity.
  • Must have excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Must have a clean MVR.
  • Mechanical trade school education preferred.
