Nextran information

What is a Nextran?

Nextran typically refers to Nextran Truck Centers, a network of dealerships specializing in the sale, leasing, and servicing of commercial trucks and related equipment. They provide new and used trucks, genuine parts, maintenance, and repair services for brands like Volvo, Mack, and Isuzu. Nextran also offers fleet management solutions and works with businesses to optimize their transportation needs. Their staff includes sales professionals, service technicians, and parts specialists who help keep commercial vehicles operating efficiently.

What do Nextran technicians do?

As a technician at Nextran, you will typically work on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial trucks and equipment. Your daily responsibilities may include conducting routine inspections, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and collaborating with service advisors and parts teams to ensure efficient workflow. You'll also be expected to keep up with ongoing training on new vehicle technologies and manufacturer updates, which is essential for career growth within the company. Working as part of a team in a fast-paced service environment, you'll gain hands-on experience and have opportunities to advance into senior technician or supervisory roles.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a Nextran technician?

To thrive as a Nextran technician, you typically need a background in diesel technology or heavy-duty truck repair, supported by vocational training or relevant certifications. Familiarity with diagnostic software, repair tools, and OEM systems is essential for troubleshooting and maintaining commercial vehicles. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and customer service skills help technicians excel in this role. These skills ensure accurate repairs, minimize vehicle downtime, and build customer trust in a demanding service environment.
