Is Next.js has future?

Next.js is a popular React framework used by Next.js developers for building server-side rendered and static websites. Its ongoing development, strong community support, and adoption by major companies indicate a positive future in web development. Skills in Next.js, along with React and JavaScript, remain valuable for developers in this field.

What are some common challenges Next.js Developers face when working on large-scale applications?

Next.js Developers working on large-scale applications often encounter challenges related to performance optimization, such as ensuring efficient server-side rendering and managing code splitting for faster load times. They may also need to address complex routing scenarios and handle data fetching from multiple APIs without slowing down the user experience. Collaboration with UI/UX designers and backend teams is essential to integrate features smoothly, and staying updated with the latest Next.js features is important to maintain scalability and security.

What is the difference between Next Js Developer vs React Developer?

AspectNext Js DeveloperReact Developer
Primary FocusBuilding server-side rendered React applications with Next.jsDeveloping user interfaces using React library, mainly client-side
Skills & CertificationsJavaScript, React, Next.js, SSR, API integrationJavaScript, React, Redux, UI/UX design
Work EnvironmentWeb development teams, often with full-stack responsibilitiesFront-end development teams, UI/UX focus
Industry UsageWeb applications requiring SEO and performance optimizationInteractive web interfaces and single-page applications

While both roles involve React, Next Js Developers specialize in server-side rendering and full-stack features using Next.js, whereas React Developers focus on building dynamic user interfaces primarily on the client side. The choice depends on project requirements for SEO, performance, and rendering strategies.

What are Next.js developers?

Next.js developers are software professionals who specialize in building web applications using the Next.js framework, a popular React-based tool for creating server-side rendered and static web applications. They are skilled in JavaScript, React, and understand the unique features of Next.js such as routing, API routes, and server-side rendering. Their responsibilities often include developing user interfaces, optimizing performance, and ensuring web applications are SEO-friendly. Next.js developers also work with backend APIs, manage deployments, and integrate modern web technologies to deliver robust and scalable applications.

Is NextJS fullstack or frontend?

Next.js is a React framework primarily used for building frontend applications, but it also supports backend development with server-side rendering and API routes, making it a fullstack framework. Next.js developers often work with both client-side and server-side code to create dynamic web applications.

What is the salary of NextJS developer?

The salary of a Next.js developer varies based on experience, location, and skill level, but typically ranges from $70,000 to $130,000 annually in many markets. Junior developers may earn closer to $70,000, while experienced developers with specialized skills can earn over $120,000. Factors such as remote work, certifications, and project complexity can also influence compensation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Next.js Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Next.js Developer, you need strong proficiency in JavaScript, React, and Next.js, along with a solid understanding of modern web development concepts. Familiarity with tools like Git, RESTful APIs, and experience using frameworks such as Node.js or TypeScript is highly beneficial. Excellent problem-solving abilities, collaboration, and effective communication skills help developers work efficiently within teams and deliver high-quality solutions. These skills ensure optimized, scalable, and maintainable applications that meet client and business needs in a fast-evolving tech landscape.

Are next JS developers in demand?

Next JS developers are in high demand due to the popularity of React-based frameworks for building fast, scalable web applications. Companies seek these developers for their skills in JavaScript, React, and server-side rendering, often offering competitive salaries and remote work opportunities. The demand is expected to grow as more organizations adopt modern JavaScript frameworks for their projects.

Senior Agentic Software Engineer
Arrivia
Phoenix, AZ (Onsite) Full-time

Job Context

Arrivia powers the travel behind many of the world's membership and loyalty brands. Its private travel marketplace gives members access to deeply discounted cruises, resorts, and hotels, and its platform runs the booking, servicing, and rewards underneath those programs. The engineering teams build and scale that platform across a distributed, cloud-native architecture.

As a Senior Agentic Software Engineer, you architect systems, set technical direction, and drive engineering standards across teams, shipping faster and smarter with AI coding agents as core development tools. You operate with limited oversight and broad organizational scope, with wide latitude to set objectives and approaches for critical technical initiatives. You make the high-impact architectural and strategic calls that shape the platform's technical foundation, weighing innovation, risk, scalability, and business impact. And you shape how the whole organization builds with agents: driving the adoption and standardization of tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot, establishing best practices, prompt libraries, and workflows that lift productivity company-wide, designing the org's agentic workflow strategy, and architecting the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server ecosystems that give AI agents secure, structured access to internal tools, data, and platform services. This role is based onsite in Phoenix, AZ, on a fast-paced, highly collaborative team that spans US and international time zones. Expect 8+ years of full-stack and architectural experience and expert-level fluency with coding agents, across TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, or C#/.NET, a front-end framework like React, Next.js, Vue, or Angular, and a cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

You fit if you lead by example and bring both depth and influence: you set the quality bar for AI-generated code across teams, you mentor engineers on prompt engineering and agentic workflow design, and you help shape technology investment decisions. You care about the product and the member on the other end, you collaborate across product, design, and engineering, and you revitalize services that have outlasted their original design through refactoring, migration, and cloud-native distributed architecture. A deep understanding of MCP and architecting MCP server ecosystems, advanced prompt engineering with reusable patterns and libraries, RESTful APIs and microservices, streaming platforms like Redis, Kafka, or RabbitMQ, containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes, and CI/CD rounds out the picture, and experience with Azure AI Foundry, RAG, LangChain, or graph-based data technologies is a plus.

How hiring works here

Applying with Provn is designed to get more interviews for the best candidates coming in without a referral. Instead of sending a cold resume into an ATS and waiting, you complete a challenge built by Arrivia and submit a short video walking through how you approached it. You'll use AI the way you would on the job, and you'll show the thinking behind what you built.

Why that works in your favor:

  • You show how you actually build and ship with coding agents, instead of hoping a resume gets it across.
  • Your judgment with AI becomes visible, which no "proficient with AI coding agents" resume bullet can prove.
  • One challenge puts you in front of the engineering team, scored on the work, with no referral required to get there.

The hiring manager reviews every completed submission, and the strongest candidates go straight to an interview round. No referral needed. Performance over pedigree. Proof over polish.

What's in it for you

Arrivia offers competitive compensation, plus access to the private travel marketplace with deeply discounted cruises, resorts, and hotels, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, and a 401k with company match. Beyond the package, you get broad technical ownership and the chance to shape how an entire engineering organization adopts agentic development, on a team of curious, action-oriented builders that ships fast and stays current with where the field is going.

Apply by completing the challenge at provn.co, where the full role details live. Applications are open through July 31.
