North Newton School Corporation is seeking a Head Junior High Cheerleading Sponsor to lead and oversee the junior high cheer program. The successful candidate will serve as a positive role model while promoting school spirit, teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership among student participants. The sponsor will help develop cheerleaders' skills while supporting the mission and goals of North Newton Junior High School.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a positive role model for student participants
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to teach and develop cheerleading skills, routines, and game-day expectations
  • Previous cheerleading coaching or sponsorship experience preferred
  • Ability to work cooperatively with school staff, students, and parents
  • IHSAA required coaching classes and CPR Certification

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Organize and supervise cheer practices and performances
  • Prepare cheerleaders to support athletic events and promote school spirit
  • Teach cheers, chants, and basic routines appropriate for junior high level participants
  • Coordinate schedules with the athletic department for games and events
  • Communicate team expectations, schedules, and policies with students and parents
  • Ensure proper supervision of students at all practices, games, and school-sponsored activities
  • Assist with uniform and equipment inventory and communicate needs to the Athletic Director
  • Promote sportsmanship and positive representation of the school at all events
  • Work collaboratively with school administration and athletic staff
  • Represent North Newton Junior High School in a professional manner
