Job description

WKRN is now accepting News internship applications for the Summer 2026 semester. Our news department is accepting both news producer and videographer interns.

Our station unpaid news internship program allows for the most effective, impactful 8 weeks possible. We have written a loose curriculum that will teach you how to be the strongest producer or videographer possible while also allowing you to build your reel and resume.

Internship Details:

Each internship requires a minimum of 20 hours per week for 8 weeks

Interns will be supervised and participate in a meaningful learning experience

Upon completion of internship, the student will receive a written review by supervisor

Interns are responsible for their own transportation

Requirements and Skills:

All interns must be enrolled in college receiving course credit

Knowledge of camera equipment and non-linear editing a plus

Skilled in Broadcast and AP style writing

Flexible in performing a variety of assignments and tasks

Be a collaborative worker with willingness to learn

Intern duties include but not limited to:

Assist/shadow reporters, news, and digital producers

Answer viewer calls

Transcribe interviews

Research stories for on-air and online
