The Program Manager role within the Modem and Components R&D organization drives the execution of WaveLogic modem development programs, ensuring alignment across technical, operational, and business objectives. This position plays a key role in delivering complex R&D initiatives from concept through production. This is an onsite role at Ciena's Kanata office.

How you will make an impact:
  • Lead cross-functional WaveLogic modem programs from concept through delivery while managing scope, budget, and schedule commitments.
  • Build alignment across stakeholders to accelerate program execution and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Develop and manage product development schedules from new product introduction through mass production lifecycle phases.
  • Monitor program dependencies, including silicon tape-out dates, process development initiatives, and technology availability.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, challenges, and interdependencies that could affect program outcomes.
  • Define and execute build plans to support internal product teams, early customer engagements, and product ramp-up activities while minimizing material exposure.
  • Communicate program status, risks, change requests, and performance metrics to stakeholders, including executive leadership.

The Must Haves:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Experience: 10+ years working in the telecommunications industry, including 5+ years of experience managing complex programs.
  • Experience managing hardware and software projects within the telecommunications industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and build consensus across diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-disciplinary technology projects with organizational and business planning responsibilities.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and make data-driven decisions while balancing competing priorities and risks.

Pay Range: The salary range for this role is $110, 100 - $175, 900

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
