Job description

Apple's people don't just build products, they craft the kind of wonder that has revolutionized entire industries. It's the diversity of those people and their ideas that encourages the innovation that runs through everything we do, from groundbreaking technology to industry-leading environmental efforts.
In CoreOS Operations, we ensure the OS is inseparable from each device's identity as a whole, integrating, building, and validating nearly a quarter of all changes that go into our OS releases, reaching over a billion customers. As a CoreOS Software Integration Engineer, you'll help take the integration process for the low-level components of iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS to the next level, exploring new approaches and raising the bar on what "outstanding" looks like.
Description
As a CoreOS Software Integration Engineer, you will sit at the center of how Apple's operating systems are built and shipped, working across the submission, integration, and release process for the low-level components of iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. You will ensure that every change landing in our builds meets the quality bar that more than a billion customers depend on. This role demands both technical depth and strong operational instincts, as you orchestrate software submissions, investigate integration failures, and partner closely with development teams across Apple to keep the pipeline healthy and moving. You will also contribute to the platforms and tooling that power our integration work, shaping how software ships today and tomorrow, as part of a global team.
","responsibilities":"Orchestrate software submissions across the integration and release process for iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS low-level components.
Contribute to the design and development of the CoreOS integration system and supporting tooling.
Investigate and triage complex, multi-stage build and integration failures to identify root cause.
Communicate critical status, risk, and root-cause findings clearly across technical, non-technical, and distributed teams.
Partner with development, QA, and program management teams across Apple to keep the integration pipeline healthy and moving.
Contribute to platform and tooling investments that shape how software ships today and in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience operating, designing, or significantly improving CI/CD pipelines in a multi-project environment.
Demonstrated ability to triage and debug complex, multi-stage build and integration failures, and to communicate root cause clearly to both technical and non-technical partners.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerized environments; familiarity with configuration management tools such as Salt or Ansible.
Comfortable operating under ambiguity - able to prioritize, communicate progress, and make sound judgment calls before all the facts are in.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Strong software engineering fundamentals, with flexibility across languages and tools.
Expert command of Git, including branching models, merge strategies, cherry-pick and conflict resolution, and history analysis across large repository portfolios.
Understanding of key components of an operating system and low-level build systems (Objective-C, C++).
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; comfortable working across development, QA, and program management teams under deadline pressure and with incomplete information.
Excellent communication and coordination skills; able to relay critical status and risk information rapidly across distributed teams.
Familiarity with highly scalable, distributed systems and parallel build workflows.
