Job Summary
We're looking for a Buyer 3 to join the Tank team! Working closely with Purchasing, Planning, Engineering, Quality and our plants, you'll buy the direct and indirect materials that keep our manufacturing running - resin, tank components, valves and couplers, packaging and MRO. Exceptional performance looks like the right material at the right plant at the right time, at the best total cost, with strong vendor relationships and clean, accurate data behind every purchase order.

  • You are a strong communicator who can work across departments and with vendors by phone, email and in person.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchase direct and indirect goods required for Tank Holding Corp. manufacturing, including resin, tank components, valve and coupler products, packaging materials and MRO items.
  • Prepare, issue and maintain the accuracy of purchase orders; follow up on and expedite orders to protect production schedules.
  • Use information from multiple ERP systems to plan material requirements, generate reports and maintain buyer, supplier, pricing, min/max, safety stock and lead time data.
  • Partner with Customer Service, Scheduling, Quality, Engineering, Vendors and the plants to resolve stock outs, quality issues and material problems.
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships, and continually identify opportunities for new suppliers, improved pricing, lead times and material suitability against annual targets.
  • Research, analyze and forecast current and future buying trends and market conditions to support purchasing strategy.
  • Lead and participate in cost savings initiatives and other projects assigned by management, providing leadership, coaching and mentoring to the purchasing group.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Required experience: Purchasing/procurement in a manufacturing environment, including PO management, vendor negotiation, expediting and materials problem solving (required). Knowledge of process flow (required). Strong Excel and reporting skills (required).
  • Education: Degree in Supply Chain, Business or a related field (preferred).
  • Certifications: APICS CPIM/CSCP or ISM CPSM (preferred).
  • Years of experience: Minimum 4-6 years of related purchasing or materials experience (required); MRP/ERP or enterprise software background (preferred).
  • Years of Supervisory experience: Prior lead or first-level supervisory experience, or experience coaching and mentoring a subordinate group (preferred).
  • Industry experience: Manufacturing, ideally plastics/rotational molding, steel fabrication or industrial products (preferred).
