Job description

Engineered Steel Products (ESP), a New Page Capital Company, is a North Carolina based steel fabrication company providing structural and miscellaneous steel for the construction industry. Engineered Steel’s vision is to provide world-class customer service and steel to customers. We are hiring for a Structural Steel Erection Estimator and Project Coordinator on a full-time basis to work onsite in Sophia, NC.

This role requires the ability to accurately estimate structural steel erection from complete construction documents as well as from incomplete drawings, conceptual plans, narratives, or preliminary design packages. The ideal candidate has strong experience in structural steel erection to enable them to accurately estimate from conceptual drawings, understand means and methods, crane and equipment planning, and labor costs. Also assist will change order pricing and site specific safety documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Review structural and architectural drawings, specs, bid documents, and project schedules to prepare accurate cost estimates.
  • Prepare details erection estimates for structural steel, joist and deck, detail work, shoring, and temporary bracing and rigging.
  • Assist with site specific safety documents
  • Assist will sequencing and crane placement
  • Consult with clients, vendors, and internal teams to obtain necessary information and clarify project requirements.
  • Prepare estimates to include Field labor hours, Hilti fastener counts, Crane and equipment costs, and Per diem and travel expenses
  • Factor in Field welding and bolting, Connection and fit-up labor, Mobilization and demobilization times in estimates

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in structural steel estimation with field experience
  • Strong knowledge of steel erection methods and specifically in-depth knowledge of Steel erection sequencing
  • Experience with Crane operations and rigging
  • Understanding of Field labor production rates
  • Experience with commercial construction software and project management tools- Tekla, Bluebeam, and Excel are preferred.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and suppliers.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously under tight deadlines.

Physical requirements:

  • Able to work at computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional travel to job sites to view site conditions prior to bidding.
  • Able to review construction drawings and field documents.
  • Able to access active construction environments when needed.
