Essential Responsibilities for Registered Nurse (RN):

  • Administer all medications, treatments, blood sugar monitoring and other medical care to residents as prescribed by the physician/psychiatrist, according to the facility’s specific policies and procedures.
  • Provide emergency care services, as needed.
  • Document in the patient’s medical record.
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to all residents, as needed.
  • Provide resident education regarding medications, treatments and other medical care, as needed.
  • Notify physicians of abnormal resident condition, lab values, vital signs, behavior, incidents, and/or reactions to medications.
  • Ensure that vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and weight are taken properly.
