Job description

Position Purpose:

The Nurse Residency Program Coordinator is a professional nurse with advanced knowledge and skills in nursing practice and/or nursing education. The incumbent coordinates the nurse residency program for newly hired nurses across the enterprise.

 

Nature and Scope:

The incumbent leads the department in advancement of the nursing professional practice model by overseeing model infusion throughout program implementation. The incumbent frequently collaborates with nurse leaders, staff, and community to assess, plan and implement educational and program activities to meet identified needs using evidence based practice principles. He or she develops and uses appropriate evaluation systems to determine effectiveness of program activities.

The position must have advanced adult education skills. The major challenge is to develop the staff using a variety of adult learning principles including didactic, self-directed and clinical modalities. The position requires outcome evaluation of these teaching and learning strategies.

The incumbent participates in committees, task forces, meeting and activities to assist in the development of staff. Assumes responsibility to be a professional change agent. Contributes to nursing and the hospital through support of the organizations mission and values, strategic plan, educational efforts, research efforts, grant-funded efforts and leadership.

The incumbent is a subject matter expert in advanced adult education skills. The major challenge is to develop the staff using a variety of adult learning principles including didactic, self-directed and clinical modalities. The position requires outcome evaluation of these teaching and learning strategies among Nurse Educators.

Minimum Qualifications:  Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Registered Nurse licensed to practice professional nursing in the State of Nevada. Master of Science degree in Nursing with appropriate specialty track preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years nursing experience required. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required. Experience in delivering presentations to groups and in clinical teaching areas are highly preferred. Experience in performance improvement, adult education, and nursing evidence-based practice desirable.

License(s):

Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Registered Nurse license.

Valid State of Nevada or California driver's license and ability to pass Renown Health's Department of Motor Vehicle Report criteria.

Certification(s):

Requires current BLS certification by the American Heart Association standards.

Computer / Typing:

Professional:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
