Respiratory Therapist NICU (Travel Contract)

Contract Details:
  • Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
  • Duration: 13 Weeks
  • Shift: Days 0700-1930
  • Schedule: 3x12s; 36 hrs/week
  • Gross Weekly Pay: $2,226/week including stipends
  • Start Date: 6/15/2026 
  • Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NRP 
  • Minimum Experience Required: 2 Years Recent Acute Care Hospital Experience; Strong NICU exp required

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Respiratory Therapist for a travel contract assignment in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The ideal candidate will have strong critical care experience and the ability to provide respiratory care to patients across multiple age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
The Respiratory Therapist will work closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to assess, treat, and monitor patients with cardiopulmonary disorders in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment.
Responsibilities include administering respiratory treatments, managing ventilators, monitoring oxygen therapy, performing arterial blood gas collection and analysis, responding to respiratory emergencies, assisting with intubations, and providing patient and family education. The therapist may also provide support in specialty areas such as ICU, ER, NICU, and Labor & Delivery depending on facility needs.
The ideal candidate is clinically strong, adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to remain calm under pressure while delivering exceptional patient care.
Requirements:
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care hospital respiratory therapy experience. 
  • Current BLS certification. 
  • Current ACLS certification. 
  • Current NRP certification. 
  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. 
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential required based on state/facility requirements. 
  • Experience with ventilators, airway management, and critical care patients. 
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment. 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous travel respiratory therapy experience preferred. 
  • Experience with neonatal and pediatric populations required. 
  • Experience with EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner preferred. 
  • PALS certification preferred (if applicable).
