New Grad ER refers to newly licensed nurses starting in emergency rooms, focusing on gaining experience. ER Nurse indicates experienced nurses providing direct patient care in emergency settings. While both roles work in ERs and require RN licensure, ER Nurses have more clinical experience and autonomy. WHO WE ARE:
Emergency Veterinary Care Centers (EVCC) is a rapidly growing group of emergency veterinary hospitals with six locations across the Midwest. Our mission is simple: expand into and support the communities that need us most, especially where pet owners don't currently have access to 24/7 emergency care.
EVCC is a veterinarian-led company that truly values the insight and leadership of our DVMs. Founded by 36 local general practice veterinarians—most of whom remain actively involved today—we're proud of the collaborative, team-first environment that defines every EVCC location.
We remain committed to delivering exceptional, around-the-clock care—because emergencies don't just happen between 9-5.
OUR MENTORSHIP PROGRAM:
EVCC is proud to offer a structured mentorship program designed for newly graduated veterinarians transitioning into emergency veterinary medicine. Our goal is to help you build confidence, develop critical ER skills, and feel fully supported as you grow into your role.
Because let's face it; while emergency veterinary care is an exciting and fulfilling field, it's not easy. That's why we take extra special care of our team members through continuing education opportunities, promotion possibilities, and a supportive work environment you can be proud of.
REPORTS TO: Emergency Veterinarian Medical Director
POSITION + PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Our Mishawaka location needs skilled, friendly and energetic newly graduated Emergency Veterinarians who strive for and achieve excellence in emergency veterinary medicine in the area.
Your mentorship experience at EVCC is personalized to your learning style, pace, and professional goals. We work closely with you to determine the appropriate timeline and workflow for your development.
MONTHS 1 – 4: You'll be scheduled exclusively with a core member of our DVM mentorship team. This period focuses on hands-on guidance, case discussions, foundational ER skills, and consistent support.
MONTHS 4 – 7: Your schedule will transition into overlapping shifts with other associate DVMs. This collaborative phase helps you build relationships within the medical team and exposes you to a variety of clinical cases.
MONTHS 7 – 12: As you gain confidence, your schedule will include a mix of solo and overlapping shifts to help you develop independence. Even during solo shifts, you will always have access to veterinarians working at other EVCC locations for real-time support.
*All schedules and timelines remain flexible and will be continually adjusted based on your individual needs. Progression decisions are made collaboratively between you and your mentor.
WHY MISHAWAKA?

However, Mishawaka proves to be a city of progress, with a bustling downtown home to many local restaurants, shops, theatres, and business offices.
With an ideal mix of career opportunities, entertainment, and a welcoming community, Mishawaka is an ideal place to put down your roots.
