Job description

Looking to get specialized work experience and gain a master's degree in ABA at the same time? This is the position for you!
Graduate Assistants are enrolled in the Western New England University Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis graduate program and are employed at NECC as an Autism Teacher.
Participation in WNEU Graduate Assistant Program requires:
  • A three-year commitment to WNEU as a graduate student
  • A three-year commitment to NECC working as a full-time teacher while in the WNEU program

As a Graduate Assistant, you'll:
  • Gain valuable work experience with BCBA supervision hours
  • Provide instruction and care using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles
  • Build positive relationships and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and implement individualized educational programs
  • Teach and support skill development in areas such as:
    • Communication and social interaction
    • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene
    • Vocational and pre-employment skills
    • Adaptive physical education and self-preservation
  • Receive paid training, support and coaching
  • Promote a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment in both classroom and residential settings

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Compassion, patience and dedication to help autistic students who engage in challenging behaviors
  • A valid driver's license is required or a valid international driver's license with the ability to gain a Massachusetts license within 2 months of employment is required.
  • CPR training (can be completed with us during your first 6 months)
  • NECC CALM training - Physical and Verbal De-escalation training and Medication Administration training (ability to get MAP Certified)
