Job description

Nelson Mullins is seeking a litigation paralegal to assist attorneys in our Richmond office.


The ideal candidate will take ownership of case calendars and ensure all court deadlines are tracked and met. Responsibilities include electronically filing documents in both federal and state courts under attorney supervision, conducting online research, and drafting pleadings, notices, and motions. Additionally, you will request and summarize medical records and prepare medical chronologies for attorney review.


The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a paralegalโ€™s role in the litigation life cycle (especially written discovery and expert discovery) and knowledge of Virginia state and federal court procedures. You possess strong organizational skills along with well-developed critical thinking skills. You are detail oriented, producing neat and accurate work product, all while maintaining the ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities. You proactively resolve issues and know how to be a true team player. 

  • 2 or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate; however, work experience may be substituted for education.
  • Ability to conduct research as needed using various research tools.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business needs.
