Job Description
Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. CVCC is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational/technical programs and university-parallel/college transfer programs.
CVCC seeks a Hunger-Free Campus Coach to support the Hunger-Free Campus Food Pantry Grant Program. This grant-funded (restricted), temporary wage position (29 hours/week) provides coordination, technical assistance, and program support to strengthen CVCC's efforts to address student food insecurity, enhance food pantry operations, increase resource awareness, and develop community partnerships. The Coach works under the guidance of the Coordinator of Community Connections within the Student Services Division.
Key Responsibilities
• Support implementation and improvement of CVCC food pantry and Hunger-Free Campus initiatives.
• Assist with meeting and maintaining criteria for Hunger-Free Campus Food Pantry designation.
• Identify student food insecurity needs and support sustainable strategies.
• Conduct outreach to raise awareness of food pantry and basic needs resources.
• Assist in developing partnerships with local food banks and community agencies.
• Support grant documentation, reporting, and progress tracking.
• Perform other duties as assigned to advance Student Services and grant objectives.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
• Experience with student support services, basic needs programs, food insecurity initiatives, or community outreach.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within Student Services.
• Ability to manage responsibilities in a 29-hour per week, grant-funded role.
• Basic proficiency with documentation, reporting, and program coordination.
Additional Considerations
• Experience with food pantry operations or Hunger-Free Campus initiatives.
• Experience in grant-funded, temporary, higher education, nonprofit, or community-based roles.
• Knowledge of community resources and partnerships in Central Virginia.
• Relevant education, training, or coursework related to student or community services.
