Job description

Department Overview

A postdoctoral position is available to investigate neural correlates of binaural spectral and temporal integration: how spectra, temporal envelopes, and spectro-temporal changes are fused and integrated between the ears, in humans, behaving animals, and single neuron recordings in the auditory cortex. This position is supported for up to 3 years by an NIDCD/NIH R01 grant.

The Reiss and David laboratories are based in the Oregon Hearing Research Center (OHRC), the Department of Otolaryngology, Oregon Health and Science University, and the successful applicant will have opportunities to interact with researchers studying a wide range of topics in auditory research, from the periphery to the cortex and from basic to clinical topics (for more information about the OHRC, see http://www.ohsu.edu/ohrc/).

Individuals who hold a doctoral degree with training in the field of auditory neuroscience, experience in single neuron recordings and behavior in animal models, experience working with human subjects, and a strong engineering background with experience in signal processing and auditory modeling are especially qualified to apply.

Function/Duties of Position
  • Design and program experiments in Python and MATLAB.
  • Conduct experiments with human subjects with normal-hearing.
  • Conduct behavioral experiments and single neuron recordings in animal models.
  • Preparation of grant or fellowship applications.
