Job Description:

Please take this opportunity to join one of GDIT's fastest long-standing growing programs! US Battlefield Information Collection and Exploitation System extended (US BICES-X) is a cutting-edge program supporting DoW intelligence information sharing on current and emerging global threats to mission and coalition partners and emerging nations. With an internationally dispersed team supporting each combatant command, the US BICES-X team is in direct support of the war fighter and their missions. We are seeking a creative and driven professional with a passion for solving real world issues on a cross-functional, fast paced team.

As a Senior Network Administrator, your role is to ensure stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support the USBICES-X program. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing, troubleshooting all aspects of layer 1 through 3 networked devices. The Network Administrator must have a strong understanding of COMSEC principles and handling procedures and can manage COMSEC operations autonomously after initial guidance and training.

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Collaborate with internal and external US BICES-X teams to ensure reliable operation of multiple US BICES-X networks
  • Work with other functional teams in a proactive manner to prevent network and service outages.
  • Collaborate outside of the traditional network disciplines to produce relevant and actionable courses of action to apply corrective action during network outages.
  • Document network topologies and changes via technical drawings and plans to the program standard using the approved tools available to the team.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Track, report, and advise network hardware EOL, EOS, EOV dates and provide recommendations for replacement hardware.
  • Perform upgrades of network equipment operating systems and firmware in accordance with program and customer directives.
  • Install, test, and verify network equipment ensuring US BICES-X networks meet established customer requirements and service level agreements.
  • Capable of working independently at remote customer locations

Operational Management

  • Monitors status of US BICES-X networks and initiates corrective action to resolve network outages.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves network problems and service outages proactively.
  • Documents troubleshooting efforts via ServiceNow tickets.
  • Provides network equipment and specialized training as needed
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant network technologies as assigned.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of network administration principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Data Center operations and safety principles
  • Participates in special projects as assigned.
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing SolarWinds for monitoring and management of network assets.
  • Monitors and manages encryption devices via GEM One and VINE
  • Maintains TDY readiness and theater entry requirements per customer guidelines and regulations

Required Qualifications:

  • Self-Starter, takes initiative to resolve network outages and related problems; escalates as necessary to higher tier support or management
  • 3+ years of related Network Administration experience
  • Must possess and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance
  • BA/BS degree
  • Must possess an active CCNA certification.
  • Must meet DOW 8570 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access upon hire for positions with elevated privileges and must obtain ITIL V4 Foundation within six months of hire. Additional specific certifications may be required, depending on job assignment.
  • Knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g. OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience with current Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, NX-OS and ASA software and hardware features
  • Experience with firewall and rule sets
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot Multicast taffic
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot DMVPN, IPSEC, and GRE tunnels
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot VRF-Lite, understand the basics of route-leaking
  • Ability to configure and explain STIG procedures for L2, L3 Switches, Routers, Firewalls, and network applications
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multi-task while still ensuring high quality of work

Must achieve and maintain the Technical Expert Status Accreditation (TESA) as defined in the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) between the United States and the Federal Republic of Germany. In order to qualify for TESA, the candidate must have one of the following: Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of specialized experience, OR an Associate's degree plus 7 years of specialized experience, OR A major certification plus 7 years of specialized experience, OR; 11 years of specialized experience.

  • Knowledge and experience of COMSEC key fill device handling and procedures
  • Knowledge and experience with COMSEC documentation processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Virtualization technologies: VMware, and Microsoft
  • Knowledge of data center networking
  • Understanding of concepts and experience with network virtualization technologies: NSX-T

The likely salary range for this position is $70,658 - $77,625. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
