Job description

The Tech I position focuses on the installation of network hardware infrastructure in both educational and professional settings. This is primarily an INSTALLATION role, so it is crucial that candidates thoroughly understand the roles and responsibilities outlined below before applying. While this position offers a great entry point into IT networking, it is highly demanding. We emphasize the importance of fully grasping the expectations to ensure alignment across the team.

This position is based in Dallas, Texas, and candidates must reside within a 1-hour commute of the job sites. Our technician teams are currently engaged in multiple significant projects in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, and we are seeking skilled network technicians to join us. We take pride in our strong employee engagement and are actively looking for a candidate who will be an excellent fit for our team.

Requirements of Job

ยท Effective Communication: Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and supervisors.

ยท Follow Directions: Ability to take direction from on-site supervisors/leads and act appropriately.

ยท Punctuality: Must be consistently on-time for work. If unable to attend, must notify the designated supervisor at least one hour in advance.

ยท Dress Code: Must wear pants and a Netsync shirt at all times during installations.

ยท Driverโ€™s License: Must possess a valid, non-expired driverโ€™s license.

ยท Background and Drug Screening: Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.

ยท Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.

ยท Team Player: Must be able to work collaboratively with teammates in a professional manner.

ยท Reliable Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites.

ยท Flexible Hours: Must be able to work flexible hours, including:

o 4 PM - 12 AM

o 8 AM - 5 PM

ยท Work Hours: This job may involve long working hours with minimal breaks.

ยท Availability: After device cutover, day-1 support may be required, and the individual must be available and on standby for these engagements.

ยท Physical Requirements: Must be able to squat, bend, and reach without limitations.

ยท Documentation Comprehension: Must be able to understand and follow deployment documentation as a guide for installations.

ยท Commute: Must be able to drive at least 1 hour to job sites daily.

ยท Work Environment: Must be able to work in hot environments and endure the associated conditions.

Skills and Experience

IT Experience Required

ยท Racking and Stacking: Experience with the racking, stacking, and powering of switch devices.

ยท Port Migration: Ability to perform port migration from old devices to newly installed switches.

ยท Cisco Knowledge: Familiarity with Cisco platforms, including device operation and functionality.

ยท Cable Management: Proficient in managing power, data stacking, and ethernet cabling.

ยท Installation: Capable of racking and powering UPS devices, including lifting and mounting equipment weighing 50-70 lbs independently.

ยท Cabling: Skilled in connecting new ethernet cables from UPS to newly installed switches and documenting switch and port numbers.

ยท Height Comfort: Comfortable working on ladders daily to install Access Point devices 6-15 feet high.

ยท Safety and Security: Ability to install devices safely and securely, adhering to Netsync installation documentation.

Cabling Infrastructure (Preferred but not required)

ยท Cable Management: Proficient in cable management techniques.

ยท Troubleshooting: Able to tone out cables, troubleshoot ports, and restore appropriate devices online.

ยท Fiber Uplinks: Experience in troubleshooting fiber uplinks and testing/validating connectivity for newly installed devices.

ยท Professional Direction: Ability to follow directions professionally and ensure devices are fully operational before leaving the site.

Tools for Efficiency

ยท Installation Role: As this is an installation job, tools are required for conducting work on customer sites.

ยท Essential Tools: Team members should have at a minimum, Phillips screwdrivers, snips, etc.

ยท Optional Tools: While not required, cordless drills can enhance efficiency during installations.

Minimum Qualifications/Technical and Educational Requirements

ยท High school diploma, associateโ€™s degree, or bachelorโ€™s degree

ยท CCNA certification or any other Cisco certification are a plus
