The Networking Engineer is responsible for implementing, supporting. and maintaining the network infrastructure of the organization. This role involves supporting the network's performance, ensuring its security, and troubleshooting any issues that arise. Performs other projects and duties as assigned.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
Design and Implementation
Deploy and support functional networks (Cisco ACI, LAN, WLAN, WAN, Virtual Infrastructures).
Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS).
Assist with supporting and implementation of network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues, including service outages and other problems.
Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
Optimization and Documentation
Conduct network modeling and analysis to construct a reliable, high-performance integrated network.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability.
Collaboration and Mentorship
Collaborate with executive team members, principals, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals.
Mentor and support junior network administrator/engineering staff.
Communicate with users to address their networking needs and issues.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
Proven experience as a Networking Engineer (Support, Break/Fix, Automation).
Solid understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and LAN/WAN routing protocols (e.g., MPLS, BGP, OSPF).
Familiarity with access control models and network security.
Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., SolarWinds and Live Action networking tools).
Understanding of network operating systems (e.g., Cisco IOS, Cisco NX-OS, Aruba).
Understanding of coding languages for scripting (e.g., Python, Perl) preferred.
Familiarity with network tools; diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis of SolarWinds and Live Action (NetFlow Feeds).
Industry and Work Experience:
4 to 8 years of experience within network engineering or related roles such as Network Administration or Networking Analyst.
Hands-On experience with network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in network protocols; TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, and OSPF.
Experience with network security implementing and maintaining security measures to protect data and infrastructure.

Academic:
High School Diploma or GED required
