Overviewย 

Cypress Creek Energy isย seekingย ahighly motivated intern to helpย monitor the daily operation of a rapidly growing portfolio ofutility-scalePV plants. The SCADA Intern will join our operator team to perform continuousreal-timemonitoring and control of Solar Facility performance, energy yield, and output. Over the summerย the intern will be trained in the essential knowledge and skills necessary toย monitorย and operateutility-scalesolar generation facilities.ย 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the SCADA team with daily system monitoring and operational supportย 
  • Helpย maintainย and organize SCADA documentation, network diagrams, and system configurationsย 
  • Support data collection, analysis, and reporting from SCADA systemsย 
  • Assistย with testing, validation, and troubleshooting of SCADA alarms, points, and dashboardsย 
  • Participate in system upgrades, integrations, and continuous improvement initiativesย 
  • Collaborate with engineers, operators, and IT/OT teams on assigned projectsย 
  • Follow cybersecurity and safety best practices related to industrial control systemsย 

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience

  • Currently pursuing a degree inย Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology,ย Mechanical Engineering,ย or a related fieldย 
  • Basic understanding of SCADA, PLCs, automation systems, or industrial networks is a plusย 
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools, databases, or scripting (Python, SQL, etc.) is a plusย 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsย 
  • Networking andย firewallย experienceย ย 
  • Ability to learn quickly and work well in a team environmentย 
  • Good communicationย and documentation skillsย 

Preferred

  • Coursework or experience in automation, control systems, or networkingย 
  • Interest in energy systems, microgrids, utilities, or industrial operationsย

  • Hands-on experience with real SCADA and OT systemsย 
  • Exposure to industrial automation, energy systems, or critical infrastructureย

Locations: The location for this role is in Durham, NC. We are on a hybrid schedule 3/week.

Duration:The intern program will ideally run for 3 months. Students who would need to return to school prior to Sep 1 are still encouraged to apply. ย 

Compensation: The hourly rate for our undergraduate internships is $25/hr. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.ย
