The Security Operations Intern is responsible for assisting with analyzing, developing, and implementing the information security controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of PSECU's information. The intern will assist in hunting for threats lurking within our ecosystem, focusing on exposure and eradication. The intern will explore data analysis techniques, human intuition, expert security knowledge and security tool to uncover malicious activity. The intern will also assist with ensuring the network environment is setup in best practice and using proactive monitoring to prevent new and future threats. The position reports to the Information Security Operations Manager and works closely with other areas within the Technology and Operations (Tech Ops) organization.
Schedule: The intern should report onsite two days a week. This is dependent on the intern's school schedule.

In this position, you will

  • Information Security Controls: Assisting with analyzing, developing, and implementing information security controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.

  • Threat Hunting: Assisting in hunting for threats within the ecosystem, focusing on exposure and eradication.

  • Data Analysis and Security Tools: Exploring data analysis techniques, human intuition, expert security knowledge, and security tools to uncover malicious activity.

  • Network Environment and Monitoring: Assisting with ensuring the network environment is set up according to best practices and using proactive monitoring to prevent new and future threats.

  • Collaboration and Reporting: Reporting to the Information Security Operations Manager and working closely with other areas within the Information Technology Service (ITS) organization.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Any equivalent combination of experience and education.| Required Must be a current student actively pursuing a degree or certification for the duration of the internship/student worker assignment.| Required Must meet PSECU's minimum employment eligibility requirements, including being at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.| Required
