Job Summary:
The Network Engineer IV provides advanced engineering, design, and operational support for enterprise WAN/LAN environments, firewalls, and secure connectivity across multiple organizational locations. This role is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and securing complex network infrastructures while supporting enterprise deployments, change management, and federal IT environments.
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Certifications
  • Associate-level network certification from a major vendor (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)).
  • Higher-level or security-focused certifications preferred.

Experience Required
  • 4+ years of professional experience in network engineering and enterprise networking environments.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with firewall and network security solutions, including:
  • Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW)
  • IDS/IPS
  • Content filtering
  • RADIUS / TACACS
  • 802.1X authentication
  • VPN solutions
  • Minimum 3 years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting Cisco-based networking environments.
  • Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, and/or Fortinet network and security platforms.
  • Federal networking experience preferred.

Core Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced network engineering support for WAN, LAN, and secure connectivity across enterprise and geographically distributed locations.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot:
  • Routers and switches (Cisco IOS and NX-OS)
  • Firewalls and security appliances
  • Wireless controllers and access points
  • Design, implement, and support:
  • Enterprise routing protocols
  • VLANs, QoS policies, priority queuing
  • Network segmentation and security controls
  • Support and maintain:
  • VPNs, MPLS, and remote access solutions
  • Secure connectivity for remote and enterprise users
  • Perform network monitoring, performance tuning, and proactive troubleshooting using tools such as NetFlow and other monitoring solutions.
  • Support infrastructure design, configuration, testing, and validation activities.
  • Participate in and support change management, documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Contribute to project planning, including defining technical goals, timelines, and required resources.
  • Coordinate with other engineers to support enterprise network deployments.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.
