NETWORK ENGINEER 
Location:
Augusta, GA (Hybrid/Onsite)
Type: Contract / Contract-to-Hire
Duration: 3-6 month Contract with Potential for Permanent Conversion

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support a large enterprise environment responsible for delivering critical technology services across multiple locations. This position will focus on the design, implementation, support, security, and optimization of the organization's network infrastructure while ensuring reliable and secure connectivity for business operations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong networking expertise, advanced troubleshooting skills, and experience supporting complex enterprise network environments.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, maintain, and support enterprise Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs)
  • Deploy, configure, and manage network infrastructure including switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, and related technologies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network performance, connectivity, and reliability issues
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring incidents
  • Configure and maintain firewall security policies and access controls
  • Monitor network traffic, performance, utilization, and security events using network management and monitoring tools
  • Coordinate with telecommunications providers, internet service providers, and third-party vendors to ensure network availability
  • Create and maintain detailed network documentation, diagrams, standards, and operational procedures
  • Prepare reports related to network performance, capacity planning, security incidents, and infrastructure improvements
  • Maintain network asset inventories and configuration management documentation
  • Assist with infrastructure projects, upgrades, migrations, and technology implementations
  • Partner with systems administrators, application teams, cybersecurity personnel, and technical support teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure services
  • Research and evaluate emerging networking technologies and recommend improvements to network architecture and operations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Cyber Security, or a related field
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant networking experience will be considered
  • Five (5)+ years of experience supporting, engineering, or administering enterprise network environments
  • Strong knowledge of routing, switching, TCP/IP, VLANs, wireless networking, and network security concepts
  • Experience troubleshooting complex network infrastructure issues
  • Experience supporting firewalls, access controls, and security best practices
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across technical and business teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Cisco networking technologies and enterprise switching/routing platforms
  • Experience supporting wireless network environments
  • Experience administering enterprise firewalls and security solutions
  • Experience with network monitoring and performance management tools
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Network+, Security+, or similar
  • Experience supporting large multi-site environments
