JOB DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT: POD Operation Support
POSITION: (Senior) System/Network Engineer
LOCATION: Austin or Houston, Texas
CATEGORY: Exempt, Full Time, 100% On-site.
Requires flexibility to work day and swing shifts based on operational needs.
JOB FUNCTION:
  • Provide level 2 network troubleshooting support on POD testing operations and resolve network issues promptly.
  • Proactively engage with the Test Engineer and Production Engineer on the customer's request or issue to provide support accordingly.
  • Building a new testing production network with a server room design according to the customer's IT standard, if required. Responsibilities may involve planning, design and implementation of the POD Room network structure.
  • Travel may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain North America inventory for the POD room and production floor. Spare parts management included
  • Implement or improve the POD/Test network infrastructure in accordance with the customer's IT Standard.
  • Standardize and maintain firewall operation configuration and security control.
  • Follow up with the local team on network configuration and testing failover regularly.
  • Update site-level weekly report for North America.
  • Weekly meeting with the Test Engineer and Production Engineer on production issues or requests.
  • One-time setup for Test Server Room in relation to POD Room for Mellanox setup.
  • One-time setup of the non-production network in the Test Server Room with the customer's IT standard.
  • One-time setup for the customer's IT room.
  • Review and oversee the rollout and rollback plan for any production issue.
  • Level 2 support for Level 1 troubleshooting
  • Maintain the DHCP configuration and IP Tables if needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
  • BA/BS in Information Management, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or other related fields are required.

EXPERIENCE:
  • With 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in network technology, with a proven track record in both network design/implementation and complex troubleshooting. Data center experience preferred.
  • At least 5 years plus hands-on experience with Linux systems, with an understanding of networking.
  • Hands-on experience with layer 2 and layer 3 switches. Cisco background is preferred. Mellanox switch experience is a plus.
  • 3 years of hands-on Application firewall experience, with an understanding of NAT; Palo Alto firewall preferred.

SKILLS:
  • Solid foundational knowledge of networking, including familiarity with the TCP/IP protocol stack, various routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), switching technologies (e.g., STP, VLAN, subnetting), and network security principles (e.g., VPNs, firewall policy, access control list).
  • clear understanding of network architecture design
  • Strong logic and troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding the DHCP protocol with option 82.
  • Understanding of NAT
  • Knowledge of Cumulus and Arista switches is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex network performance and connectivity issues efficiently.
  • Strong learning ability, communication and coordination skills, and a service-oriented mindset; detail-oriented and capable of producing high-quality documentation and verbal communication.
  • Good project management skills and can work under pressure, managing multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Good cross-departmental communication skills, able to coordinate with multiple departments and cross-functional teams to address complex network issues collaboratively.
  • Mentoring and assisting other team members.
  • Professional certification, such as CCNA, is preferred.
