Job description

Our Dallas-based client is in search of aย Senior Network & Systems Administratorย to join their firm to design, implement, and maintain their LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and wireless network infrastructure, optimizing for performance and reliability. This is an onsite, direct-hire role requiring a solid understanding of network security principles and practices.ย 

Salary Offered:ย Up to $120K depending on candidate experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure and manage Cisco switches, Palo Alto next-generation firewalls (or equivalent), and Meraki (MS, MR, MX) platforms.
  • Implement and troubleshoot dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) to ensure efficient and resilient network traffic flow.
  • Develop & maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations & operational procedures.
  • Implement and enforce network security policies and procedures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  • Monitor network security logs & events, analyze security incidents, and execute appropriate response protocols.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of operating systems and application software for networking and systems infrastructure, including installation, maintenance, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting, to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verify system integrity and availability, review system and application logs, and ensure completion of scheduled jobs, including backups.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point, providing expert-level support for complex systems and networking issues.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, after-hours maintenance, and incident response to ensure continuous network and systems availability.
  • Travel to company offices may be required for project or operational needs, estimated less than 5% annually.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or equivalent training or work experience.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in network design, implementation, maintenance, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Proficiency in LAN, WAN, SD-WAN & wireless network administration, with expertise in Cisco switches, Palo Alto firewalls (or equivalent next-generation firewalls), and Meraki (MS, MR, and MX platforms).
  • Deep understanding of routing protocols, including OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, or other relevant languages.
  • Experience with Office 365 Administration, Entra, Azure, SCCM, AWS, SQL administration, VMware infrastructure, Microsoft Windows Server, preferred.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent cloud networking certifications are highly valued.
  • Experience with web server administration (IIS, Apache, Tomcat) is preferred.
